It's too expensive.
ASCLS PFI membership costs $92 per year, which is $7.67 per
month, $1.77 per week or 25 cents per day. But even at 25 cents a day, you must receive something for your dues dollars.
The VALUE of ASCLS can be seen in the huge network of professionals that you will have access to
as a member. Continuing education for members can be obtained on-line, through the CLS Journal,
and in the many local, state, regional and national conferences offered
each year. ASCLS represents its members in Washington, DC by lobbying on legislative and regulatory issues that affect the way
that we perform our duties and is a reliable source of information about
the profession and the changing roles of its practitioners. And ASCLS proclaims the VALUE of our role on the
healthcare team to other professionals and the public.
I don't have time to join.
How involved you become in ASCLS is up to you. But the VOICE of ASCLS
speaks for its members - even when an individual member can't. We know that in everyone's busy
lives there isn't enough time for active participation in society
activities at some times. As a member, your dues dollars support many different activities as well as
the people who have the time and energy to put into these activities. And when you do have time to participate, there are many
opportunities to contribute at the local, state, regional and national
levels. And the more members that
we have, the stronger the VOICE of ASCLS.
I already belong to another organization.
ASCLS is the preeminent professional organization that speaks
for the entire profession, not just one specialty area. ASCLS represents all scientific
disciplines, all levels of practitioner from bench tech to laboratory
manager and every type of facility. ASCLS speaks with a unified VOICE on issues that impact
you in the workplace. No other
organization understands the scope of the needs and issues that surround
the clinical laboratory like ASCLS does.
I don't need what ASCLS offers.
The VISION of ASCLS
membership ensures that the needs of the profession are addressed for
both current needs and those of the future. ASCLS is proactive in efforts to
define the laboratory of the future and the changing roles for
laboratory professionals. We
provide varied opportunities to grow in our individual careers and are
able to monitor the environment to position us to respond appropriately
to any challenges.
